The PS3 update 2.53 is finally available. The Sony PlayStation 3 leads the pack of seventh generation home video game consoles. So whether you swear by rivals’ Microsoft Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii, this new update should be of interest to you.
But first, nothing like a little history to put things in perspective. PlayStation 3 was first released in November 2006 in Japan and sold 81,639 PS3 systems within 24 hours. The U.S release a week later saw a very eager public according a very warm welcome to this gadget so much so that there were reports of campsite robberies, 60 campers fighting for 10 PS 3 pieces and drive-by shootings.
The latest firmware update gives the PS 3 added support for Flash Player 9 and full-screen flash support. It’s a minor update strictly speaking but the good news is that Sony is striving for improving the firmware consistently. So now you can watch online videos without having to zoom, YouTube addicts and porn lovers can look forward to greater clarity I guess. It remains to be seen whether the full-screen images are clear or some graininess persists. Some security patches may be thrown in as well. However, if as a PS 3 user you were expecting backward integration to be a part of this update… then be prepared to be disappointed, coz’ its not happening. So be content with enjoying web content full-size using your PS 3 console. Here’s the link to the official home of PlayStation on YouTube.
