Suzuki ATVs are well made and solid, and extremely popular. This is perhaps partially due to the Suzuki brand’s fame, but also probably has a lot to do with Suzuki’s success at ATV and motorcycle racing. In fact, Suzuki ATVs are so popular that the 200,000th ATV rolled off their US assembly line recently. The plant and Suzuki luminaries, including the Suzuki team’s pro racer, Doug Gust, celebrated this.
Suzuki makes a wide range of ATV for both utility sport purposes and sport purposes. Their utility sport ATVs include the Suzuki KingQuad 700, the Suzuki TwinPeaks 700, the Suzuki Vinson 500, the Suzuki Eiger 400 and the Suzuki Ozark 250Their Sport ATVs include the Suzuki LT 230, the Suzuki LT 250, the Suzuki LT-Z250, the Suzuki LT-Z400, the Suzuki LT-R450 (race ready), the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak version (rally/road) and the Suzuki Cultus Pikes Peak version (rally/road).
Suzuki ATVs are immensely popular for riding off road. They are not street legal in most of the US, Canada and Australia, however. If you don’t yet know what an ATV is, an ATV is a vehicle that rides on low-pressure tires, where the driver straddles the seat (motorcycle-style), and uses handlebars for steering. ATVs are not motorcycles, however—they have more wheels than a motorcycle.
Suzuki ATVs are designed to handle all terrains, and are generally made for one person. Compared to riding a motorcycle off road, the extra wheels of the ATV give it more stability at low speed. Suzuki ATVs usually have 4 wheels but some have as many as 6.
Maintenance is vital. If you don’t want to do your own work, though, it presents a bit of a problem, because ATVs are not street legal. Thus, you have a couple of choices. You’ll need a trailer, and you’ll have to tow it to the repair shop. Alternatively you can do your own maintenance yourself. ATVs mostly have simple two stroke engines, so it isn’t all that complicated for you to do your own maintenance. If you don’t like the idea of being heavily involved in maintenance, and plan to hook up the trailer and drag it to the shop whenever anything goes wrong, it is worth learning to do most of the basic maintenance yourself. A well-maintained Suzuki ATV will give you years of off road fun.
Off road riding on a Suzuki ATV isn’t too dangerous, especially considering that they tend to move at much lower speed than other types of vehicles, such as motorcycles. Still, you will want to make sure you wear adequate protective clothing. Wear padded clothing designed for the purpose if you want the best protection. You should also wear sturdy work boots to avoid the risk of injuries to your feet.
One more important safety note: when you ride a Suzuki ATV, you should always wear a helmet. Helmets are by far the most effective way to prevent head injuries that could leave you disabled permanently or even dead. It may be the only thing left to save you if your judgment, skill and luck haven’t come through for you.
