There are many brands of pressure washers on the market. Essentially, they are all different versions of a motorized pump, garden hose and nozzle. The motor pressurizes the water as it comes through the hose and nozzle. Different nozzles are available. Which one you use depends on the job you are doing. Full instructions are usually included with your pressure washer or you can search the internet for other nozzles and functions.
These machines are perfect for hard to tackle jobs. They are designed to easily remove heavy dirt, mold and mildew and grime. With one, you can clean almost any sturdy object. They are ideal for projects that are big, difficult to reach or for when you want excellent cleaning capability. Use them on your deck or concrete driveway to remove old leaves. Pressure wash your car for maximum cleaning and remove mold and grime from the siding on your home. The possibilities are almost endless.
There are a couple of things to look at when determining how powerful a particular pressure washer might be. These terms are PSI and GPM. PSI simply means “pounds per square inch”. The higher the PSI the more pressure the washer will create to clean those difficult jobs. Another term you may see is GPM. This stands for “gallons per minute”. You should find the PSI or GPM on the pressure washer box or in the accompanying instruction booklet.
Prices vary among the pressure washer brands. You can find them for as little as $100 for a lightweight home pressure washer. At the other end of the spectrum you can pay hundreds for a super heavy-duty commercial brand.
If you want a pressure washer but don’t want to purchase one (or if you want to try one before purchasing) renting one may be a good option. Many home improvement stores and some hardware stores will rent a pressure washer by the day or by the weekend. Some rental outlets will require a deposit or credit card in addition to the rental fee. These deposits are typically refunded in full when the pressure washer is returned in clean and working order.
There are many different pressure washer brands available. When selecting one you should consider how you are going to use the pressure washer and what features you might need. A relatively inexpensive, lightweight machine may be perfect for occasional home use. That same machine may not meet your expectations under daily use on a commercial job site.
You should also consider which type of power source is best for you. Pressure washers can run on electricity or they can use gas or diesel. Just as you would for a lawn mower or other outdoor appliance consider your options for power and storage. Make sure that all supplies can be kept safely out of reach of children or pets as you would for any other power tool.
There are many pressure washer brands on the market. Compare these at your favorite home improvement store to find the best pressure washer for your needs.
