Especially with the economic whirlwind that the world is facing today, many people want to begin an exercise and fitness regimen but the thought never makes it quite past just that, a mere thought. Too many people believe that they have to have money to get started dieting and working out which is simply not the case at all. Believe it or not many people have started out by using old milk crates and empty milk cartons full of sand.
You can get in a full workout at home without store-bought fitness equipment, all it takes is a little ingenuity. All weight training consists of is a variety of exercises that can be performed on a number of different pieces of weight training equipment, such as weight benches, dumbbells, and other pieces of equipment. There is no denying that to furnish a complete home gym you will have to spend some cash but most people don’t buy everything at once but rather buy it piece by piece. You should consider purchasing second hand equipment at garage sales, in classified ads, or online, which will save you a lot of money, but the cheapest, piece of weight training equipment is going to be milk crates.
A milk crate is a great substitute for a number of weight training exercises if you do not have the money to spend on equipment. Actually, even if you have the money to purchase equipment, you still may find that plastic milk crates are very beneficial to your exercise regime. Milk crates can be used for exercises, such as dead lifts, where the plastic milk crates are filled with heavy objects. It can also be used as a low step for aerobics or for calve raises. It can also be used as a squat stool or weightlifting stool for seated bicep curls, triceps, and extensions. You can also do leg lunges or crate jumping, which is an exercise where you gradually work towards adding ankle weights for more intensity.
Milk crates can be used in a number of ways, for example, stand on the right side of a milk crate, jump on it with your left leg, jump down and jump onto the left side of the crate with your right leg, that’s it! This is called crate jumping but once it becomes easy for you to do then add some ankle weights and do it for a half an hour straight. If you wait to work on those mighty glutes then give this a try, while holding weights in both hands, place your right toe on your crate, lower your torso in a lunge motion, bending your knee at a right angle so that your torso is vertical to the floor, keep your abs tight, shoulders and hips squared and facing forward, rise up by pushing hard through your left heel. You’ll feel the burn in your glutes.
So, keep in mind that you don’t have to wait to begin that workout; you can get started with what you have if money is an issue.
