Lose Weight

Being overweight can compromise your health and shorten your life. Overweight people, particularly those who were overweight during their young adult years, die earlier than people of average weight. Obesity, which is being 20 percent or more over your ideal weight, is a risk factor for many of the leading causes of death in the US such as heart disease, stroke, some types of cancer, type II diabetes, and arteriosclerosis.

There is no denying all of the health complications that come from being overweight and the very best thing that you can do is lose weight. The sooner you take off the extra pounds with a slow, sensible weight loss program, the better for your health. It’s much easier to lose 20 pounds than 50 and it’s easier to keep the weight off over the long term if the weight loss is reasonable.

There are literally billions of dollars spent each year on weight loss diets. Keeping that in mind, still one third of the people are overweight. In light of all the mayhem a new evolution has evolved, one that says skip dieting and just focus on healthy living. Healthy living involves eating well, being active and feeling good about oneself. It is believed that the healthy living approach will help you achieve healthy weight in a positive and safe way.

A healthy body weight suggests that people will feel more fit and flexible, feel healthier and have more energy, and be at a much lower risk for weight related health problems. No matter which diet you decide is right for you there are certain simple ways that will ensure the success of your diet. Without following them or by cutting corners it is likely that you will not lose as much weight as you wanted or will not lose it as fast as you had hoped.

First and foremost drinking water will decrease your appetite. Often hunger and thirst can be hard to differentiate between so if you think you are hungry and drink an 8 ounce glass of water. In about 20 minutes if you are still having the feeling then it is likely hunger. Consuming an adequate amount of water has also been known to assist in cutting calories.

If you skip a major meal like breakfast or lunch, your body will notice that it is low on nutrients. This will slow your metabolism down and stop the fat burning process and weight loss. So when you do eat, your metabolism will be running so slow that it will take even longer to digest the food and the majority of it will be deposited as fat.

The exact same size portion of food if placed on a standard dinner platter might not look very impressive in size however if you put that same portion on a smaller plate, it would likely look like a lot of food. That is what you brain is seeing, anyways, same portion, different plate. Doing this is intended to get portion sizes under control.
