The company that is now the modern Crane Plumbing began in Canada, in Winnipeg Manitoba in 1906, and has been in Manitoba and Quebec for over a hundred years. It eventually grew into a subsidiary of the Crane Plumbing American firm which became part of the American Standard plumbing family in early 2008.
Crane Plumbing has grown into a part of the history of indoor plumbing, and has always been known for its quality wholesale business that first serviced customers in Winnipeg in the early days of the 1900s. It developed very swiftly in the area of West Canada, with all of the expansion and building, and the business grew, as did the needs for quality wholesale bathroom and plumbing fixtures.
Indoor plumbing was pretty new in the early 1900’s, and as it grew and became part of the landscape, Crane, through very carefully placed promotions, word of mouth, and advertising was able to help customers want their products, and their new selection of bathroom fittings. Crane Plumbing offered new designs, new colors, and new concepts that many people simply had not seen before, so their business grew rather rapidly in the new frontier.
Crane Plumbing prospered, and through the days of World War I they continued to grow, and became Crane Limited by the year 1918. Crane Plumbing was joined by Canadian Potteries Limited in 1920, which became part of the Crane Plumbing family. Later, in 1948, Crane Steelware Limited joined the organization in Quebec. The new addition created an ability for porcelain on steel type of sinks and plumbing, and allowed Crane Plumbing to expand.
The expansion and positive growth of Crane Plumbing continued in 1967 when they bought Reff Plastics, which made fiberglass and reinforced plastic modular bathroom type fixture units. This gave Crane Plumbing even further ability to expand and grow in the consumer and retail bathroom plumbing fixture marketplace, and to offer different products and grow it product line.
Crane Plumbing operates two different manufacturing facilities to supply their plumbing supply business. As part of the American Standard family, Crane Plumbing continues to grow and produce a number of innovations. Crane Plumbing and Crane Pottery companies are working to produce ultra low flush toilet fixtures, that will be competitive with anything on the market.
The need for low flush toilets and water conserving toilets has grown a great deal over the last several decades, and as part of the American Standard family, Crane Plumbing is working to design, market and produce low flush water conserving toilets for the international market, as well as the North American marketplace. Crane Plumbing continues to work to search for new and innovative technology that will assist in its growth in the future.
Crane Plumbing has a bright future as part of the American Standard plumbing family and they will continue to produce high quality low flow water toilets and accessories on into the future.
