Although for some this may seem a difficult subject to discuss, proper condom care is vital in a sexual relationship with any individual who you are being active with. Always used a condom and do not be pressured at any time in not using one no matter what the situation is. If you do not have a condom, it is best you either get one or postpone sexual activity. Although some might object to this course of action, it is best for both parties in the long run. Be sure to properly maintain your condom in order to heighten sexual pleasure and protect your well-being and the well-being of your partner.
Be sure you store condoms properly. If you leave them in a warm or wet place, the quality of your condom may degrade with time. Never store them in a wallet, purse, or any location prone to extreme temperatures of either cold or warm. If the package it comes in seems damaged or discolored in any way, do not use it. This is also true for the color of the condom itself. Place the condom on once the man is erect and before sexual activity has begun in order to prevent any temptation of risky behavior which you and he may regret later on.
Although it is common sense to many, be sure you do not reuse condoms; they are strictly one use and then throw away. When you are opening a condom, be sure you do not scrape the condom with your teeth or a fingernail as this will weaken its strength. If the condom material seems damaged or has an unusual smell that is not typical of latex or spermicide, be sure you do not use it. If you have never smelled latex or a condom before, during practice you may wish to familiarize yourself with the smell as it is easy to tell when the condom is no longer usable due to the look and smell.
Always use adequate lubrication, and if you are using latex condoms be sure you use only water-based lubricants. Not only will this help protect it from breaking, but will make the experience pleasurable and not painful. The condom must be installed correctly in order for it to be effective, therefore be sure you practice putting a condom on either yourself or the individual it is intended for before you are in the situation. This will help to prevent possible mistakes or the temptation to not use one.
Once you have ejaculated, always remove the condom before the man becomes soft as if not the contents could spill out. Remember, a condom is not 100% effective, so if you are in situation where you need 100% assurance, abstinence might be the best choice. However, if sexual activity is engaged in, be sure to take as many precautions as possible. Also be sure to throw away the condom properly and not flush it down the toilet as this can lead to an embarrassing plumbing problem.
