If you were thinking that Karaoke genres were only pop, rock & roll or country, think again, because even Christians like to sing-along.
We have long known that churches like music and they usually get to song all they wanted on Sundays or maybe Wednesday evenings (for the Christian religions that is).
Depending on your denomination, you may get to sing in groups, choirs or just in the congregation during a worship service. But the expansion of Christian music into the secular world as a genre getting a lot of attention we are seeing the “commercialization” of Christian music into the Karaoke arena as well.
Christian themes have long been in music but it no longer is focused on the church attendance being required for the experience. Country music sometimes has a Christian theme to it.
Now we are seeing a whole new resurgence of Christian music outside of the hymnal. Christians want to express their faith in new ways. Writing their own music makes it personal. It is sometimes thought of a new way to witness to the world outside the walls of the Church.
Christian Karaoke is now no exception to the other aspects of Karaoke. Now, rather than just hearing Christian music on the radio or on those stations that are only focused on the Christian message, we are seeing the interest in performing your religious witness through the words of others expressed in front of groups of friends or others gathering for the Christian experience.
If you have been interested in Karaoke but weren’t sure the music used for performing it or the places where it was performed were for you, now you can find Christian-oriented, welcoming places, to get your Karaoke experience going. Now unique opportunities for Christians can be created to promote Karaoke to other Christians while possibly using the words of a Christian karaoke song to focus your witness to others or just get a sense of community with others of like-mind in their beliefs.
It might also be a place where people who were questioning their Christian beliefs or wondering what being a Christian was all about can hear the message in a way they are either familiar with or in a non-threatening environment. Thereby using this new form of witness to make the Christian message more relevant to the lives of a different congregation, the one out in the world where people are living their lives.
The whole Christian “market” for Karaoke products & content has been addressed now by the main-stream karaoke industry. There is a wide range of content, all forms of Christian music as well as specific marketing messages, websites & even new Christian businesses sprouting up to support this marker.
Some would wonder if the commercialization of Christian Karaoke is a good thing or a bad thing, but it’s more a good thing overall since Christianity is now spread in new ways & the gospel is revealed.
