Bridgestone Company is a leading tire manufacturer producing a good quality of tires that has been loved by consumers everywhere. Bridgestone is associated with many well recognized names in car manufacturing and manufacturer tires for just about anything that you could want a tire for. Their consumers have always remained loyal to Bridgestone. Of course some models by Bridgestone are very well known. Starting with the heavier vehicles such as trucks and buses that rely on safety and stability, the R 150 tire model seems to be the most popular. This is likely because the tires are equally as great for both cold and hot temperatures while ensuring a smooth ride. Earth movers also depend greatly on Bridgestone as they are the biggest and best when it comes to heavy duty tires. Even though this line is manufactured by Bridgestone it is sold as Firestone tires. These tires are very durable and meant to last for a long time while enduring high torque and a lot of wear and tear. They are also puncture resistant. Bridgestone offers a high performance tire line as well, the Adrenalin Potenza. This line offers balance for your vehicle and great stability, basically an overall smooth drive.
Bridgestone is well established globally, leading the world in tire manufacturing but falling in at number three in North America following only Michelin and Goodyear. Bridgestone makes and sells tires under the names of Firestone and markets tires under the names Peerless, Dayton, Road King, Gillette, and other miscellaneous brands. Besides making tires, Bridgestone also makes many of the raw materials that are needed for the making of tires and sell them in retail outlets. There are over 2,000 in North America and over 600 in Japan. There are multiple thousands of independent retailers on a global level that are selling Bridgestone tires of all kinds. Bridgestone also sells some products that are not tires, which accounts for 1/5 of their annual sales including such things as engine mounts and air springs, automotive components, conveyor belts, polyurethane foam, bicycles, tennis balls, tennis rackets, golf balls and clubs, etc. These items are manufactured on six continents.
Shojiro Ishibashi, whose name is translated as stone bridge is the founder of Bridgestone. Before founding Bridgestone, Ishibashi and his family had a clothing business which made Japanese footwear for workers with rubber soles. Because the rubber soles were so popular he decided that he might have a future in rubber and began his endeavor in 1929. He founded Bridgestone in 1931 in Kurume, Japan and was the very first tire supplier for the Japanese automotive industry. In 1937 they relocated the headquarters to Tokyo and five years later changed the name to the Nippon Tire Co., Ltd., changing back to Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd nine years later and remained that until 1984 when they became Bridgestone Corporation. Bridgestone is still the world’s leading tire maker and not only managed to survive but to also sustain enormous growth during many times of trouble.
