One of the best known toilet and plumbing manufacturers in the United States is the American Standard Company. They are known for the quality of their products, and their long history and excellent customer overall satisfaction. The American Standard Company had its beginnings in the 19th century, way back in 1875.
American Standard Company started life in 1875 before it eventually merged with several smaller bathroom and plumbing fixture companies. It merged in the year 1899 to form the company known as the Standard Sanitary Manufacturing company. It was an innovator and leader of many new products of the times, including the built in shower tub, combination faucets that mix hot and cold water to yield warm water, the one piece toilet, and other new plumbing innovations new at the time. By the year 1929 Standard was one of the largest producers of bathroom fittings n the world.
American Radiator Company merged with Standard Sanitary Corporation in the year 1929 to form the American Radiator and Standard Sanitary Corporation. They operated under this long name until the year 1967 when they began to be known simply as “American Standard” and have been known by the “American Standard” company name ever since.
In 1980 American Standard brought to the marketplace a new ceramic disk that works to keep faucets from dripping, and it has become one of the industry ceramic disk standards to prevent leaks in bathroom faucets. It gives faucets a lifetime of drip free smooth performance without having to replace rubber type washers. In 1987 American Standard Company brought to the marketplace a lightweight enamel alternative to the traditional cast iron for sinks, bathtubs and other basins.
There has simply been a lot of positive innovation in the area of toilets and bathroom fittings, and it has given the American Standard Company one of the best relationships with the public, and some of the most loyal and trusted customers in the world. Because of their long history, the American Standard Company has created a lot of different products that each in their own way have earned the respect of the consumer and the local communities that American Standard services.
There have been different new additions to the American Standard Company family, both in 1992 and in 2000, with the French company Porcher in 1992 and the Jado brand of luxury bathroom fixtures, both of which joined the American Standard Company family in 1992 and 2000, respectively.
Recently in 2004 the American Standard Company has began to introduce Scotchgard coatings for protection on sinks to make things like toothpaste less likely to stick. Items such as lotion, toothpaste, grime and dirt are now less likely to stick on a American Standard Company sink treated with scotchguard coatings.
Now, and into the future, the American Standard Company continues to give high quality service, quality products, and to offer the same kind of customer service and integrity that their company has been known for in the last hundred years.
