Alternative Condoms

Some individuals believe it may be alright to use alternative condoms if they do not have proper condoms on hand when sexual activity is about to begin. However, this is far from the case and alternatives to regular condoms do not work. Alternative condom choices include latex, polyurethane, and many other materials. However, this does not include materials which would normally be dangerous and harmful to one’s health.

The trash bag or sandwich bag do not work, and may cause both you and your partner possible health problems. Although in centuries past certain materials were used pre-latex, these materials were largely ineffective. In Roman times, animal intestines were largely used and helped to inspire the current condoms. Scientific findings have determined that many of the materials used are porous, and therefore will never be 100% effective in preventing STDs or pregnancy. In addition, natural alternative condoms are not as effective as latex or polyurethane condoms.

However, when it comes to condoms, there are safe condom alternatives. As in, different kinds of condoms you can use, particularly if you are allergic to regular latex condoms. For instance, polyurethane condoms are very effective and are preferred by some. However, if you are using non-lubricated polyurethane condoms, this may cause irritation within your partner which can lead to painful infections. Water-based lubricant can help to prevent discomfort and irritation, plus increase pleasure felt by both individuals.

In addition, there are a number of different condoms you can use. There are printed condoms with camouflage, lubricated vs. non-lubricated, studded and ribbed. In addition, there are extra tight and larger condoms vs. smaller ones. Alternative condoms are limited not by material, and can be chosen to fit any different form of needs. Understanding the different materials used and if they are fit for your body is also important due to how easily individuals may become affected today. STDs are very intense and being tested regularly is the only sure way to prevent them from being spread.

Proper understanding of alternative condoms is important in order to prevent pregnancy and STDs. If you are unsure if your partner is clean, insist that he or she is tested before you engage in any kind of sexual activity. Even if the individual is at a young age, this is preferable to a life-long medical condition. In addition, there are many free clinics available which will not share your name or charge you for their services.

Alternative condoms are available due to medical problems and to meet the different interests and desires individuals have. However, not having the right kind of condom on hand is not an open invitation into using a different material to act as a condom as by doing so, you are risking yourself and the other person. Abstinence is the best choice in this case, and if you are unable to wait, go to the nearby store or bang on your neighbor’s door. Anything is preferable to not using the right kind of material.
