How to Find Killer Halloween Parties

By Sean Percival on October 31st, 2008

It that time of the year again – time for fright and delight.  Halloween is upon us, but why should we let little kids have all the fun?  There are a variety of ways to celebrate Halloween.  It is actually the second-most commercialized holiday celebrated in America (next to Christmas, of course!).  There are adult costume parties, non-costume parties, real haunted houses (and other locations) as well as haunted house attractions at a wide variety of venues.  Today, let’s take a look at how the Internet can help you find killer Halloween parties in your area before you ever leave out the door!  There are four websites in particular that you will want to check out this Halloween season.  Here they are in the grand-finale countdown fashion…

#4 Halloween.com

With a name like Halloween.com, what is there not to like about this site? While Halloween.com is a general site about the holiday and its history, the site does have contain links to Halloween events around the U.S. You can do a site search for your area or simply check out their list of top haunts.

#3 HauntedHouse.com

The main listings here are haunted houses, grouped geographically by state. However, there are also sections for Halloween event listings, locations of real ghost reports and spooky entertainment downloads as well. Not a bad place to start your search for tonight’s rendezvous with darkness.

#2 HauntWorld.com

This site has a setup that allows you ti find haunted houses by state. As if that’s not enough, you can check the forums to get user-based advice on which frightening site is the best place to hang out. From videos to haunted cornfields, you get it all on this site. Be sure and check out their top 10 attractions – a must see if they are in your area!

#1 GooGhoul.com

GooGhoul has been around for several years and is arguably one of the highest rated sites on the Internet for finding your own Halloween haunt. Simply enter in your zip code for a listing of local events. You can narrow the search results by using longer terms such as “Halloween party” or “Halloween haunted tour”. If your in a small town, you can try using a zip code from a close-by larger town to see more options for your special evening.

All-in-all there are some great parties as well as haunted and entertaining events to participate in this Halloween. Don’t let the kids have all the fun! Dress up, dress down, but whatever you do – get out there and mix it up with some ghouls and gals. Have a frightful night ;) .

(PS – Please note that during heavy traffic today a couple of these sites have appeared to go down. I’m sure their owners are working diligently to bring their sites back online during this once-a-year barrage of traffic. So be patient and try again if you can’t get a site listed here to work.)

Thanks for the links. I will have to look and see what kind of information that these sites have and who is some of the greatest haunts ever in Utah and the country. If you are in Utah though and are looking for a haunted house you should check out the Haunted Forest. www.hauntedutah.com/forest.html
