Guide to Subwoofers

If you have owned a speaker system for a while, then you will definitely know all about subwoofers and the power that they provide. When it comes to the sound range, subwoofers are the provider of bass. They are the provider all of all things deep and they play a very important role in the working system of any home entertainment center. What kind of bass tones are subwoofers responsible for producing? Specifically, for producing tones that are somewhere near 150 megahertz. What is so important about these low sounds? They are the only sounds on the entire spectrum that can be felt as well as heard. This is why it is so important that you have a good, powerful subwoofer to work with in your home theater system.

The primary reason why people get subwoofers is because they want a real theater feel. They want to feel like they are sitting in the movies, watching some sort of thriller. This can’t happen if you only have high pitched sounds. You need the rumble pack, and the rumble only comes when you install a nice set of subwoofers. The thing that you must know about subwoofers is that they aren’t all created equally. In fact, you will have lots of different choices when you select subwoofers. It is important to choose carefully.

When you go to choose your subwoofers, you will have to choose between powered and unpowered subs. As you might guess, powered subwoofers are much more popular than unpowered and they tend to be a better option for your home entertainment system. Just because more people choose the powered subwoofer doesn’t mean that it is necessarily the best, though. They probably have equal sound quality when it comes down to it. The difference, however, comes with the amp capability. You have to have a dedicated amp if you are going to be running an unpowered sub and this can be pretty expensive. If you have the money to do it, this is probably the best option for you, though.

You will also want to consider the size of the sub that you are buying. This means that you will have to choose from as small as 8 inch sub woofers to big sub woofers that can be as large as 16 inches. This depends upon what kind of capability you are looking for in your sound system. As you look through subs at the local electronics store, you will probably see some that are smaller than 8 inches. You don’t want to touch these, though, as they will not be good enough to power your sound system. If you are trying to power a large room, you will need to go up towards 16 inches. It all depends upon your individual needs.
