Microsoft Does AIM

Microsoft has announced it will be entering the VOIP (voice over internet protocol) commercial market by offering a free VOIP in its new 2007 Mobile Office application. This puts companies like Skype in face of some serious competition in light of sheer power and magnitude of the Microsoft Corporation. It also casts a shadow on the future of the existence of the cellular companies. Cell phones are the traditional method of keeping contact with others when a person is on the go and for emergencies. If companies like Microsoft begin selling their forms of communication for free to be used on a variety of applications and with different items including open smart phones that has Wi-Fi capability, this will potentially put them out of business.

VOIP allows any individual to communicate over a broadband connection whether it is over a computer or a mobile. Many companies make a living by charging monthly for a service that you are technically already paying for if you have broadband. However, the allure of the VOIP system is that you are charged a far less amount per month to use free long distance. In most cases, in addition to free long distance you are also given unlimited talk time as you are using your own broadband bandwidth anyway. This can be a great option for friends and families who wish to keep in touch but do not like to be charged incessantly just for saying hello to loved ones.

With Microsoft now looming to enter into this new market, it is adding a strong weight to all competition in the VOIP field, especially for those who pioneered the market like Skype. However, despite the grim forecast that such an announcement might make, Skype is far from being done. The purchase of the application Microsoft will have its software on is not cheap, and requires substantial investment. Despite this, it is an excellent investment that will allow you to talk to those dear to you almost nothing.

While Microsoft admits it is not entirely sure which direction this will lead them in, they are sure it was the right time to make this move and are continuing to offer their support. The future of communication has taken an interesting turn yet again with Microsoft, who will continue to impress consumer in the future. In addition, with the free price tag and the coasts of inflation on the rise, Microsoft is making excellent headway in the field pf VOIP technology.
