Nokia N91
The Nokia N91 is a cell phone that was first released by the company in April of 2006. It is part of the Nokia Nseries range. Nokia Nseries phones are multimedia-enabled smartphones. They are what is known as convergence mobile devices in that they combine PDA features, phone features, music playback, video capture, photography, gaming and Internet service.

These songs can be in any of the following formats: AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, mp3PRO, WAV, MIDI, or Microsoft’s WMA format. This phone also features both 3G and wi-fi technology. It has a color LCD display and its mp3 controls are on a sliding panel that reveals the normal phone keys when open. The N91’s operating system is the Symbian Series 60 Operating System.
Nokia is a Finnish company headquartered near the capital of Finland, Helsinki. Nokia are the preeminent manufacturer of mobile phones. They employ around 112,000 employees in 120 countries, and sell their phones in 150 countries. Their market share for cell phones was 40 percent as of the second quarter of 2008, and is slowly growing. Nokia makes phones for every major market segment and every known mobile network provider protocol including GSM, CDMA and W-CDMA.
Nokia’s Nseries smartphones are their top of the line phones. A smartphone combines an organizer, email, and more often than not some productivity applications, and yes, even a phone. Smartphones are basically very small, full-blown computers and most allow you to load applications onto them. You can load productivity applications, word processors, spreadsheets and even games. Be aware that if you get a Nokia smartphone, there will probably be a learning curve. Even smart phones with very intuitive interfaces have a learning curve. In other words, you might have to practice with your smart phone to master its features, or even read the manual. This time invested will be well rewarded, however, as once you master your smartphone, using it properly will make you more productive.
If you have decided to buy a Nokia mobile phone, make sure it is compatible with your mobile network provider. Cell phone carriers in the US operate over two completely different types of network: CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and GSM (Global System for Mobile communication). Both technologies are fully capable of transmitting both voice and data, but they do so in different ways. Thus, they are completely incompatible with each other.
The USA is predominantly CDMA, but GSM coverage is constantly improving. If you travel a lot then you can get your phone “unlocked” so it will work with any GSM carrier. Then, when you arrive at your destination country, you can buy a phone number—and a chip—at almost any phone store or minimart. It’s the cheapest way of having a cell phone when you travel. Today’s cell phone networks offer many services beyond the ability to make calls. Many phones allow you to access your email, provided the network coverage includes it. If you have kids with cell phones, they’ll probably install games on their cell phones.
